Efficient testing of modularised and standardised interlocking components

Modular safety-critical systems require new approaches to verification and validation by testing, especially if different subsystems are provided by different suppliers. This paper introduces the concept of hierarchical, modular testing using the example of EULYNX, the future generation of railway interlocking systems. The intention is to test different combinations of subsystem products generically and subsequently to use them in various specific applications.
