Efficient test method for ETCS components
Among other things, extensive field testing is carried out before signalling and safety components such as the European Train Control System (ETCS) are used for the first time. These field tests are generally very complex and entail restrictions on rail services. At Siemens Transportation Systems a test facility was therefore developed for laboratory testing, which enables the time and effort required for the field testing of ETCS components to be reduced considerably. This test facility was employed for the first time for the development of the Siemens TRAINGUARD® VC 200 train control system.
