Effective ETCS key management with KEY.connect
The ongoing implementation of ETCS is bringing increased demand for an effective management of the cryptographic keys which are used in ETCS Level. These keys are necessary for the secure communication between ETCS equipment. The generation and management of these keys is carried out with the aid of a Key Management Centre. Austrian Federal Railways are presently equipping the Kufstein-Brenner axis and the new Vienna St. Pölten line with ETCS Level. In this regard, ÖBB commissioned the development of a Key Management Centre which is tailored to the requirements of cross-border traffic right from the beginning.
