Telematics for (very) long freight trains
Outside Europe, long freight trains and even very long trains (VLT) are becoming the new normal, transforming rail freight transport. Global demand for freight is predicted to lead to a doubling of rail freight transport by 2030. Longer trains offer an opportunity to meet this demand efficiently by transporting more freight with fewer staff and locomotives. This leads to considerable cost savings and a competitive advantage over lorries and other modes of transport.
