Siemens is to supply a fully automated people mover for Frankfurt Airport
Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, has ordered an Airval automated people mover from Siemens in a consortium with Max Bögl and Keolis Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG. The Airval system will connect Terminal 2 with the new Terminal 3 and the railway station at Terminal 1. The line is 5.6 km long, it has two tracks and there are three stations. Siemens will supply a total of twelve twin railcar units, the radio-based Trainguard MT CBTC train control unit for fully automated operations, the train fittings, the entry doors, the depot equipment, the communications system and the traction power supply....
