An example of an ontology in the railway industry
The railway industry is confronted with a lot of data on a daily basis. There is a need to correlate the data or the events from these subsystems in order to be able to ensure the automated operation of the business. The data is located in different silos (i.e. sometimes in an ERP system such as SAP or in the traffic management system, etc.). Each information system constitutes an isolated data silo. This data sometimes means the same things in different silos, but it is expressed differently.
