ETCS L1 – an optimised ETCS architecture for regional lines

The European Train Control System (ETCS) is currently being introduced on main lines, in particular in the TEN corridors. ETCS has not yet been regularly implemented on regional and secondary lines, but some countries are awaiting inexpensive future ETCS solutions for these lines. The use of new digital technologies and the resulting digital interlocking makes it possible to optimise the existing ETCS architecture.
