Developments in the approval process for signalling systems due to the introduction of the EIGV
The approval processes in the railway sector have changed several times in recent years. The Railway System Commissioning Permit Approval Regulation (Eisenbahn-Inbetriebnahmegenehmigungsverordnung – EIGV) [2] was enacted in August 2018 on the back of the New Type Authorisation administrative regulation (Verwaltungsvorschrift Neue Typzulassung – VV NTZ) [1], whose transitional arrangements are still in force today, which had come into effect in September 2013.
