Fibre optic sensors for more efficient railway operations
Increasing numbers of passengers and trains, as well as challenging environmental conditions mean that the railway industry is facing ever more stringent requirements. These need to be met in the most economical way possible. New technologies are creating opportunities to overcome these challenges. The focus is increasingly on data-based approaches, a field which brings its own challenges, as this article explains using the example of fibre optic sensing (FOS).
