Allianz pro Schiene criticises lack of digitalisation strategy
Allianz pro Schiene e.V. (ApS) complains that Germany’s digitalisation of its rail network is progressing far too slowly. At the end of last year, only 1.6% of the German rail network was equipped with ETCS, which is an essential component for harmonising the various European train control systems and thus simplifying cross-border transport. Although the federal government is aiming to equip the entire rail network with ETCS by 2040, this will be difficult to achieve without a clear strategy.
