The migration of control, command and signalling into a modern IT- and cloud system
The control, command and signalling (CCS) technology deployed today is largely based on specialised hardware and rail-specific solutions. In addition to high costs, this also leads to large storage requirements at data centres and major obsolescence challenges. However, there are currently strong developments in the rail sector, partially driven by DB InfraGO, towards the use of off-the-shelf solutions and IT/cloud technologies such as virtualisation according to an agreed European standard.
