Automatic travel on the Betuweroute
Tests for automatic travel on the Betuweroute in the Netherlands should begin this year. The appropriate contract was concluded between ProRail, Alstom and Rotterdam Rail Feeding (RRF) on 21st January. The tests will begin at the level of GOA 2 (Grade of Automation); GOA 4 is fully automated. In the case of GOA 2, the train driver gives the start signal and sets the vehicle moving. The train then travels automatically and the train driver can resume control as necessary. The journey will take place on an approximately 100 km long line between the Port of Rotterdam and the Valburg CUP (Container Uitwisselingpunt)....
