New functions for futureproof level-crossing protection systems
When it comes to providing adequate protection for level crossings, one of the challenges posed is the long service life of the level-crossing systems, which are often maintained in the field for more than 40 years. In the past, renewal cycles have been known to span 60 years in some cases. There are currently still around 45000 level crossings in Germany. 16871 of them have been assigned to the DB AG network and 10348 of these have been fitted with technical protection systems.
