On the effect of the automatic wayside train monitoring

The railway rolling stock is constantly controlled along its route. Controlling does not only cover the train traffic and shunting as such, but today, increasingly, also real-time monitoring of the technical condition of the rolling stock units using devices installed in the track. These systems make it easy to collect measurement data from each separate unit to be later used, for example, for the purpose of maintenance planning or for controlling the loading. The focus must be set in having the wayside monitoring system to serve the needs of the complete railway network and its users...
