Safe disposition and scheduling in railway operation
In today’s railway operation, disposition is regarded as non-vital. All safety functions are provided only by the signalling system. By making the disposition safe, train movements could effectively be prevented from reaching the safety limits. The signalling system could be reduced to route locking and checking train integrity. Furthermore, a safe disposition would lead to an increased safety level in an emergency operation and on non-signalled lines. A new principle of radio based train control based on a safe rescheduling system is proposed.
