GSM–R network for the high speed line Rome-Naples

May 2000 | Alessandro Coraiola, Marko Antscher

This article illustrates the main characteristics of the GSM–R network, that will constitute the track-to-train telecommunication platform of the Rome-Naples line. It also outlines the availability and traffic related design criteria as well as the main applications and services. The introduction of the GSM-R by FS on the Rome–Naples line assures that all the telecommunication needs and requirements of the new high-speed network will be respected. The extension of the GSM–R to the complete railway network is only a question of time and budget.
