Automatic Train Protection for the BR 185 Multisystem Cargo Locomotive
The europeanisation of the economy is leading to a growing demand for cross-border rail traffic. The railway companies are taking this into account through the acquisition of locomotives which are capable of operating under various voltages and train protection systems. With the introduction of the BR 185 multi-system cargo locomotive, a new concept in automatic train protection has emerged, which corresponds to the requirements of both the current national systems, as well as those of the future ERTMS standard.
