Access to Rail Networks for all TOCs –The Role of Train Path Management and Marketing

Rail transport and railway-related commerce are currently undergoing a process of profound change. This development together with the commitment to make rail networks available to all train operating companies will force European rail network operators to revise their operation planning methods. The introduction of new instruments for the marketing of train paths can make an important contribution to the profitability of a company’s business activities. However, the marketing process should not be separated from the management of train paths as only the combination of both can guarantee continuous and efficient processing of orders.
