New European Norms from a Japanese Viewpoint
This paper discusses the new European Norms for railway signalling from a Japanese viewpoint. Firstly, as background information, the introduction of microcomputers to Japanese railway signalling and their safety guidelines, including basic concepts of quantitative analyses, and safety approval processes will be outlined. Then the CENELEC standards will be discussed, reflecting our experience with application of the safety guide-lines.
