Sofia Metro: Line 3 with Inspiro trains and automatic train control systems

Inspiro trains and Siemens Mobility's communications based train control system (CBTC) Trainguard MT started passenger service at Sofia Metro on 26 August 2020. The trains and train control systems will be used on Line 3 of the metro in the Bulgarian capital. In March 2016, the Metropolitan EAD awarded a contract to a consortium consisting of Siemens and the Polish train manufacturer Newag to manufacture the trains for the new Metro Line 3 in the Bulgarian capital. The initial order related to the first phase of this construction project, consisting of the first eight kilometres with seven stations, and included the delivery of 20 Inspiro metro trains and the Trainguard MT automatic train control system (CBTC, on-board and trackside), the Trackguard Westrace MKII interlocking, Clearguard-ACM-200 axle counting system, the Controlguide OCS automatic train control system, the voice radio and data transmission system, the Sitras RSC Power SCADA system, the trackside digital communication network and passenger information displays in the stations, including the Digital Station Manager (DSM)....
