Experience with Quantified Safety Analyses

April 2003 | Harald Peters, Jens Braband

The new international standards in the field of railways require quantified safety analysis. The techniques are the same as in other sectors, e.g. civil aviation. Quantitative analysis is no more difficult than any other engineering technique provided that certain ground rules are observed. In particular it is important to have well-trained and experienced personnel and use a structured, well-documented approach to quantitative modelling.
