LeiDis-N Network Dispatching at the Network Management Centre of DB AG at Frankfurt

June 2003 | Gerald Thiemt, Michael Kant, Stephan Breu

For five years the German Railway Deutsche Bahn (DB AG) has been operating the Network Management Centre (NMC) in Frankfurt as a superior dispatching centre for supervising railway traffic. From the very beginning this centre has been working with the system LeiDis-N (management system for the railway network) from Alcatel. At the end of the year 2002, the system was updated to a very new version. This article will give a short overview of the tasks of the NMC and a look back at the genesis of the system structure of LeiDis-N, the system interfaces and the application modules, especially under the aspect of network dispatching. It will conclude with an outlook of the further development at DB Netz and foreign railways over the next years.
