Compact HMI (Human-Machine-Interface)

August 2003 | Angelika Meier, Hans Mack

Long distances become short. Central traffic control centres are growing in number and importance within the scope of rationalization efforts and with a view to economic efficiency. This calls for compact user interfaces that offer users optimum information and maximum orientation. State-of-the-art technology enables the far-reaching automation of operations. Users must be given every conceivable form of support during intervention in order to ensure safe and effective operations. The development of the new „Compact HMI“ product (Alcatel product name: NetTrac 6655) is currently in full swing at Alcatel. It represents the user-friendly integration of control and scheduling tasks in one display and control medium. The latest innovative technology provides users with new visualization and automation options that enable clearly arranged monitoring and control. The system was used for the first time together with the Alcatel electronic interlocking system ESTW L90 5 (Alcatel product name: LockTrac 6151).
