Lightning Protection in Interlocking Systems

August 2003 | Bernd Klose

The expansion and installation of new interlocking systems has increased the train density on the lines and thus the efficiency of the railway network. However, more demands are concomitantly placed on the availability of interlocking systems as each fault now affects the on-time running of a greater number of trains. The objective of this article is to show how Alcatel’s interlocking systems are protected against the influence of atmospheric discharge.
