Dual utilisation of modular switch operating systems
Movable point crossings are not only proven in high-speed lines, but because of their significantly lower lifecycle costs they are also increasingly replacing rigid point crossings in heavy-haul and high demand lines. The advantage of lower lifecycle costs stands against the additional expenditure required for integrating movable point crossing in the control room. The further development of the Hydrostar setting and locking system from VAE Eisenbahnsysteme is outlined in the article below and describes the successfully implemented control, locking and monitoring of a turnout with a movable point crossing with just a single interface module and without additional signalling equipment at the turnout.
