This article presents the modernization and development of the Romanian railway telecommunication network in the coming years. The network’s physical usage and a low technical level, vis-à-vis modern communication demands, have entailed the continued modernization of the Romanian railway telecommunication network through the introduction of optical digital communications and the rehabilitation of the railway communication installations on the European Corridor IV that crosses Romania. This article describes the new extensions of the railway digital transmission network and the rehabilitation of communication installations for railway traffic.
