ETCS Level 1 solution to equip the French sections of corridors C and D

October 2011 | Audrey Cayol

Alstom’s ETCS Level 1 solution will be installed on the rail traffic corridors C and D, to facilitate and speed up cross-border freight traffic. Together with four more main corridors, connecting important European ports and freight terminals, the tracks equipped with ETCS are planned to become a network of 25,000 km by 2020. But for now, one major hindrance is the existence of more than 20 national signalling systems. Alstom is introducing an enhanced ATLAS 100 (ETCS Level 1) solution. Its main goal is to offer customers the solutions which are the least intrusive in the customer’s existing systems and the quickest to be deployed.
