Local point control in non-centrally controlled shunting yards

February 2013 | Arnoud Vermeulen, Fokke Bronsema, Richard Douwstra

To improve safety and increase the throughput of the stabling yard “Grote Binckhorst” (located in The Hague, the Netherlands), ProRail and Bombardier Transportation have installed a new point control system on this yard. Based on the EBILock 400 interlocking, the system offers the train dispatcher the ability to control the points in his yard from his desk, making the stabling process much more efficient. This article describes several aspects of the project in which this system was acquired and installed.
