Accuracy of smartphone accelerometers for evaluation of rail vehicles ride comfort
The accuracy of smartphone accelerometers for railway applications is evaluated. Acceleration signals are measured on a train with smartphones and high-accuracy industrial sensors. The latter are taken as the reference for comparison. The systematic and random errors of the measured accelerations as well as ride comfort values are calculated. It is concluded that the smartphone accelerometers have enough accuracy for evaluation of ride comfort.
