The Spanish High-Speed Railway Network in the 21st Century

The infrastructure investment programme enables Spain to establish a high-speed railway network from which most part of the population will benefit. The infrastructure maintenance division of Renfe, the Spanish railway company, is responsible both for the conventional and for the high-speed track system. The increased maintenance costs for the high-speed lines due to higher quality demands are compensated by increased operating profits from the transport business.
