Introduction of ETCS Level 2 in Hungary by Thales

May 2015 | Karl Schnabl, Sándor Vajda

In recent years lines throughout the world have been successfully put into operation with ETCS Level 2. For manyother railway operators ETCS Level 2 is still in the introductory phase as futuretrain control system. The HungarianState Railways are also focussing increasingly on the use of ETCS Level 2 and are commissioning the installation of ETCS Level 2 track side systems for a total line length of 500 km. Thales can already point to many successfully realised ETCS projects and is therefore best suited to make an important contribution during the introduction of ETCS Level 2 in Hungary. The article presents the current Thales ETCS Level 2 projects in Hungary and describes their challenges.
