June 2015 | Ulrich Kohlenberger, Marco Franke

DB International conducts design activities for metro systems especially for the rail systems worldwide. The objective of preliminary engineering is the development of functional system requirements and design criteriawhich will then be incorporated into the technical part of a contract. This functional specification forms the technical design of the project asbasis for the development of the tender specifications. The contract commonly constitutes a design & build contract according to FIDIC Yellow Book and is awarded to a main contractor for project execution.
