BMVI: 200 million euros for digital safety technology onboard trains

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is funding digital safety technology onboard trains for the first time. The measure is part of the "Digital Node Stuttgart". The programme has a volume of up to 200 million euros and runs until the end of 2025. The EU Commission has examined it from the point of view of state aid law and recently approved it. Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer said: "Not only the railways, but also the trains are becoming digital: in addition to massive investments in the rail infrastructure at the Digital Node Stuttgart, we are now also funding digital safety technology onboard trains for the first time – with 200 million euros....
