Harmonious coexistence between train and general radio telecommunications

One of the side-effects of the world’s ever greater enthusiasm for digitalisation and wireless networking is reciprocal radio interference. This poses questions for the railroad sector too, not least because the second level of the ETCS train protection system that is now starting to come into use relies on GSM-R and future mobile communication standards rather than wired signals. This article considers the difficulties currently being faced and possible ways of resolving them.
