Egypt: Hyundai Rotem awarded signalling modernisation contract
Hyundai will provide the signalling for the Nag Hammadi – Luxor line. EGYPTIAN National Railways (ENR) has awarded Hyundai Rotem a Won 122.5bn ($US 110.1m) contract to resignal the 118km Nag Hammadi – Luxor line as part of the Egypt National Railways Modernisation Project (ENRMP). In addition to the signalling technology for the line, Hyundai Rotem will supply the automatic train protection and an electronic, computer-controlled interlocking system.Other infrastructure including the train control, machinery and power facilities will also be upgraded under the three-year contract....
