Netherlands: Better internet coverage on the railways
ProRail has signed a contract with the telecommunications infrastructure provider Cellnex. Among other things, the contract is intended to ensure that mobile phone coverage on the Dutch railway network will be complete in a few years, even in remote locations. This means more comfort for train passengers, one of the prerequisites for international train journeys over medium distances, for example. For ProRail, it is also an important prerequisite for the rollout of ERTMS. Arjen Boersma, Chief Information Officer at ProRail: „The number of train passengers in the Netherlands will increase by at least 30 percent in the next twenty years....
