Digital signalling in the Simmental

Components and signal lamps enabling a continuous digital connection with the light points have been used for the first time along a 30 km track section operated by BLS AG, the second largest Swiss railway company, in the Swiss Simmental between Spiez and Zweisimmen as part of the replacement of an interlocking system by Thales Switzerland. The ELEKTRA2 electronic interlocking system commands the local control and monitoring unit, the single element controller (SEC) which is installed on or next to the signal mast via an IP-based data network....
