Life-extension measures for first-generation electronic interlockings
Like most European railways, the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is faced with the challenge of migrating their existing network to the European Train Control System (ETCS), including in-cab signalling (FSS). The first-generation electronic interlockings (EIL) will be given a service life extension in order to minimise investing in an intermediate generation of optical signalling and accelerate the FSS rollout. Adaptability to future requirements will be ensured by raising the safety logic of up to 45 Simis-C systems to the Simis-W logic standard...
