Dear readers, The EU Member States softened the TEN-T proposal of the EU Commission. The result is that the TEN-T infrastructure, in some cases, is only required to meet lower standards than proposed by the EU Commission. On 5 December 2022, the Council of Transport Ministers agreed with the view of the Member States for the amendment of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). This differs from the Council’s compromise proposal of 11 November 2022, among other things, with regard to provisions on: • ERTMS: radio-based ERTMS (level 2/3) is to be mandatory from 2030 (Commission: 2025) for new lines or when upgrading the signalling system on existing lines....
