Siemens vernetzt Lokomotiven der DB Cargo

September 2017 | Editor

DB Cargo AG has commissioned Siemens to equip part of its locomotive fleet for condition-based, predictive maintenance. The vehicles concerned are class-152 locomotives of the Eurosprinter ES64F type and also the two Vectron classes, 170 and 191, some of which are running in Poland. In the case of the class 152s, Siemens is installing the necessary telematic systems and linking all the locomotives to DB Cargo’s “TechLOK” system. The contract is to run for a period of six years. DB Cargo uses TechLOK to capture data on, visualise and process its fleet throughout Europe. It is intended to have all 2000 locomotives retrofitted by 2020; at the time of writing, nearly 1000 have already been equipped. cm
