ETCS Level 1 and digital interlocking technology
The digitisation of the operations control and signalling offers a potential for the European Train Control System (ETCS) in combination with digital interlockings to use the ETCS Level 1 (L1) better. A radio infrastructure and infrastructure and a radio block centre (RBC) can be dispensed with on regional lines. A unique feature is the direct connection of the balises to the interlocking, without tapping the signal aspects by a Lineside Electronic Unit (LEU).
