An investigation into the scenarios for upgrading from ETCS L1LS to cab signalling

The Swiss railway network is largely equipped with the European Train Control System Level 1 Limited Supervision (ETCS L1LS). The visual signalling associated with ETCS L1LS is to be replaced with cab signalling (German abbreviation: FSS) as part of the Federal Office of Transport’s (FOT) European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) strategy [1]. Until now, the procedure for migrating to FSS has always been to completely replace the interlockings.
