Siemens automates the Copenhagen commuter trains (S-Bane)

The race to upgrade the Copenhagen S-Bane (S-tog København) to driverless, fully automated operation (GoA 4) has been decided: Siemens Mobility has won the contract with a total volume of around EUR 270 million – GTS Denmark (formerly Thales) as the second pre-qualified company was unable to win. The corresponding contracts signed with Banedanmark (BDK) and Danske Statsbane (DSB) cover the upgrade of the entire 170 km long suburban railway network in the Danish capital, including the equipping of 226 new trains with onboard units to create what will be the largest fully automated suburban railway network in the world....
