An integrated evaluation of train control systems on the path to automated train operations
The automation of train operations promises to boost the performance and reliability of rail traffic. However, how can automation be realised economically? Do the benefits become available in the intermediate stages or only once the automated system has been fully implemented? The DLR has defined technological scenarios and evaluated them holistically with regard to the developments in line capacity and profitability and the measures used to deal with failures in comparison with the status quo.
