Heading forwards to innovative railway operations with ETCS Hybrid Train Detection

ETCS Level 2 – Hybrid Train Detection (ETCS HTD), formerly known as ETCS Hybrid Level 3 will increase the line capacity for passenger and freight transport and reduce trackside equipment. Both new trains with integrity monitoring capabilities and older trains without can operate on HTD lines in mixed traffic. Siemens Mobility GmbH and Informatik Consulting Systems GmbH (ICS) have conducted a safety study based on the current state of standardisation and in light of the projects in the pipeline in order to identify any HTD-specific hazardous scenarios and quantify the hazard rates, as well as to reveal and eliminate any challenges from the specific solution variants....
