Solving obsolescence problems using dependable cloud platforms
Products used in railway applications usually have a very long lifespan. At the same time, however, the lifespan of the used hardware is decreasing. Software which was once compiled for specific hardware can be operated using COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) hardware on cloud platforms without any changes by means of the use of emulators. This constitutes a contribution towards solving existing obsolescence problems in railway applications.
