Propagation of High-frequency Signals in Traction Power Systems of Rapid Transit Railways
Based on theoretical investigations and measurements, a model of the power grid of a local transport system with respect to signal transmission and propagation between a fixed point and a moving train has been established. In order to describe and anticipate characteristic properties of the power grid, such as signal attenuation, VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) and phase distortion, a model has been developed. The model pays particular attention to time-varying parameters caused by moving trains. Finally, the paper demonstrates that the results obtained by the model concur perfectly with the measurements performed on a practically implemented system.
