Dear readers, this issue of SIGNAL+DRAHT is all about FRMCS (the Future Railway Mobile Communication System), the future rail radio system based on 5G and the successor to GSM-R. The scalability and flexibility of FRMCS will increase the productivity of railway operations and thus, create significant added value for both railway operators and passengers. FRMCS aims to become a global standard that meets both European regulations and the needs and obligations of non-European rail organizations.
