ETCS Onboard in the Netherlands
Following the various ETCS pilots across Europe, the Netherlands, together with Spain and Switzerland, is one of the countries leading the “first-wave” of implementation in major commercial railway infrastructure projects. Three separate Dutch ETCS projects will enter operation in 2007: the Betuweroute, the High Speed Line South and the Amsterdam-Utrecht 4-Tracking. All these projects are implementing ETCS Class 1, Version 2.3.0. The Betuweroute and High Speed Line South will be among the first lines entering commercial operation where inter-operability will be a reality. Locomotives equipped with Bombardier EBI* Cab 2000 onboard systems will operate on these lines over trackside ETCS systems delivered by the partners in the UNISIG group.
