ERTMS put into service on "Direttissima" Florence - Rome
At the end of December 2020, RFI, the Italian infrastructure manager, put ERTMS into service between Rovezzano and Arezzo South. The works were managed by Italferr, an engineering company of the FS Italiane Group. The section on the Florence - Rome line is the first upgrade of a conventional line; it is used daily by high-speed trains and is one of the busiest sections in Italy. The section now equipped complements the more than 700 km of high-speed lines in Italy that are already equipped with ERTMS technology....
